Hi there! I’m Patty Palmer —
& my life changed forever when I decided to embrace possibility and map out an exciting new direction for my career.
If we haven’t met before, I’m an art teacher and the Founder of Deep Space Sparkle, Primerry & Primerry PRO.
When I started teaching art as a volunteer over 20 years ago, I had no idea how much my life would change by simply exploring what it could look like to start something of my own.
I began by dipping in just a toe or two: I sold art lessons online, while working my day job as an art teacher to over 400 children at my school.
I got my first customer, then another, then another…
That extra income made a BIG difference to our family’s finances:
Not only could we afford to get braces (for 2 kiddos!), go on that trip to Disneyland and add some much needed padding to our bank account —
Perhaps most important of all...
It cracked open a
- I discovered that I had real options outside of the 8am-to-3pm (and then some) job I’d grown so used to.
- That my passion and creativity would be a BIG hit in my community in countless ways…
- And that I had an opportunity to plot out an exciting new pathway for myself and my family.

DAY 1 : MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 18
PLAYING WITH POSSIBILITY
You’ve spent years fitting your creativity into someone else’s requirements. What might it look like to design your work (and even an entire business) around your unique needs, desires, and creative interests?
We’ll spend our first day together dreaming about what you’d LOVE the next phase of your work to look like — and what kind options could work for you.
We’ll explore:
- The 7 types of creative enterprises you can start and grow (and how to choose the right one for you based on your skillset, background, available time and interests.)
- How to assess which kind of business model is a fit for where you live, the resources available to you, and how you want to work.
- Real stories from educators who made the leap, how they got started, and their biggest lessons learned so far.
When it comes to teaching art to kids on your own terms, coloring outside the lines is 100% permitted — and highly recommended!
DAY 2 : TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19
PLOTTING YOUR PATH
Now that you’ve identified the type of business that could be a fit for you, and the type of classes you’d like to teach, it’s time to get more specific.
Teaching your own art classes is not the same as teaching in a school. There may be less rules, but there are a few things that set a successful studio lesson apart.
You’ll learn:
- 3 essential things you MUST have in place before teaching your first (or next) class
- What sets a successful studio lesson apart from a typical classroom lesson (and 5 elements that will ensure you avoid “flop” projects for good)!
- How to create a stellar experience for every student that walks through your doors (and keep kids engaged from start to finish).
Setting yourself up for successful lessons and a rave-worth experience is the backbone of any thriving studio. Let’s get you set up to nail it!
DAY 3 : WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20
TAKING THE PLUNGE!
Imposter syndrome, perfectionism and self-doubt… oh my! A thriving art business requires that you put yourself out there in a way that connects — and no, you don’t have to be a marketing expert to do it.
We’ll show you a new way to get seen that includes:
- How to position your services so that parents want to book their children in with you (and keep them coming back)
- How to know if you’re ready to start advertising your services — and the best way to get seen by ideal customers in your local community
- What to do when fear, self-doubt and overwhelm show up — and confidently talk about your services without being a cheesy marketer.
By the end of day 3, you’ll identify the next small step you’ll take to move your dream studio forward. It’s time to get out of your head and take the next step!

- This is a virtual workshop, which means you can join and participate online from anywhere in the world.
- Each daily class begins at 4pm Pacific time and will run for approximately 60 minutes.

Tuesday, September 19th at 4pm PT
Wednesday, September 20th at 4pm PT - You'll have lifetime access to the recordings and class content, so don't worry if you can't catch everything live.
If you plan to join us live, each daily class is approximately 60 minutes long (with 45 minutes of learning, followed by 15 minutes of coaching + Q&A with Patty).
You can also expect to spend just a few minutes each morning and evening reflecting on the prompts we'll provide. This isn't yet another boring professional development class; this is for YOU (and we hope it will be the most energizing part of your day)!
If you can't catch any portion of the workshop live, don't worry. You'll have lifetime access to all the recordings and downloadable materials from the workshop, so you can catch up at your leisure.
